Tuned by THX Platin Monaco WiSA 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos

7 total AC power outlets are required — one to plug in the SoundSend wireless transmitter, five for the wireless speakers, and one for the wireless subwoofer.

The $1499.00 Platin Monaco WiSA 5.1.2-channel home theater system [manufacturer’s link] [available at Amazon] is the world’s first ever WiSA certified Dolby Atmos wireless surround sound system to be Tuned by THX. The front left and right speakers each feature an upward-firing driver which reflects the height channel signal off your ceiling so you can experience the more three dimensional immersion of Dolby Atmos.

In addition to adding an upward-firing Dolby Atmos speaker built into the top of the front left and right speakers of the Monaco 5.1.2, Platin has also added removable magnetic speaker grilles on each of the five speakers, compared to the “naked” speaker look of the lower-priced Monaco 5.1 package. The 9.7″ high, 4.3″ wide, 5.5″ deep front left and right speakers feature a two-way design and are slit-ported. The 10.2″ wide, 4.3″ high, 5.5″ deep center channel speaker features a tweeter, dual woofers, and is dual slit-ported. The 6.7″ high, 4.3″ wide, 5.5″ deep rear surround speakers feature a tweeter, woofer, and are also slit-ported. Lastly, bass is provided by the low-profile 15″ wide, 5.3″ high, 12.2″ deep downward-firing, side-ported 6.5″ powered subwoofer which might just fit underneath the sofa or an end table.

The included round, disc-shaped WiSA SoundSend wireless audio transmitter resembles a slightly-oversized ice hockey puck, measuring 4.3″ in diameter and just 1.1″ high (a hockey puck is 3″ in diameter and 1″ thick, by the way.) An HDMI cable is included to connect it to the HDMI ARC or eARC input on back of your television. Activate the HDMI-CEC feature in your TV’s menu and your TV’s remote will be able to control basic system functions such as power, volume, and mute. System DOES NOT have its own remove control.

Surround sound decoding capabilities include Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Digital, and if your television has eARC, you can enjoy lossless Dolby TrueHD and of course 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos. DTS is NOT supported! Advanced system setup and tweaking settings will require you to connect your smartphone to your SoundSend with Bluetooth and use the WiSA SoundSend mobile app.
