Onkyo HT-S5910 5.1.2-Channel Home Theater Package

I do not believe that the following potentially promising all-in-one Onkyo home theater in a box package has ever been given a fair shake in the consumer marketplace, given its late 2019 release date combined with all the adverse worldwide events of the last few years, including ongoing supply chain disruptions and especially previous uncertainty about the future of the Onkyo brand before their 2021 acquisition by Premium Audio Company, a subsidiary of VOXX International Corporation.

The $799 Onkyo HT-S5910 5.1.2-channel home theater audio package [manufacturer’s link] [available at Amazon] includes a non-network-ready 7.2-channel HT-R495 AV receiver [not sold separately] which is optimized to take full advantage of the more immersive height effect of 5.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos and DTS:X with the built-in upward-firing full-range driver located on top of the included front left and right speaker. After all of the speakers are properly placed and connected to the back of the receiver, use the included speaker setup mic to perform automatic speaker calibration.

Receiver has a pre-out for Zone B. Surround sound decoding includes Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS:X, DTS-HD Master Audio, and DTS-HD HR. Video support includes HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision, and BT.2020. Connectivity includes four HDMI 2.0 inputs (4K capable only — not 8K), HDMI output with ARC (not eARC), two digital audio inputs, three analog RCA inputs, USB power out, front headphone jack — NO PHONO INPUT, NO ETHERNET, NO WI-FI! Bluetooth wireless built-in. Remote control with AAA batteries. Receiver dimensions are 17.1″ wide, 6.3″ high, 12.9″ deep, and it weighs 17.2 pounds.

The wall-mountable front/height left and right speakers are 18.4″ high, 6.1″ wide, 7.2″ deep, and weigh 7.9 pounds, each featuring a 1″ dome tweeter, dual 5″ cone woofers, and the integrated upward-firing Dolby Atmos speaker is a 3.2″ full-range driver. The wall-mountable center channel speaker is 16.1″ wide, 4.5″ high, and 4.8″ deep, and has a 1″ tweeter and dual 3.2″ woofers. The wall-mountable rear surround effects speakers are 9.1″ high, 4.5″ wide, 3.8″ deep, and feature a single full-range 3.2″ driver. Lastly, the low bass frequencies are handled by the 18.2″ high, 12.5″ wide, and 15.7″ deep 120-watt powered sub with downward-firing 10″ cone woofer and front port. Speaker grilles are NOT removable!
