Polk Audio SurroundBar 6000 IHT The $500 Polk Audio SurroundBar6000 Instant Home Theater system pictured to the right is a perfect (virtual surround sound) solution if you want to significantly improve upon the less than stellar sound put out by your flat panel television without the hassle of selecting, wiring, and setting up a roomful of six to eight separate speakers that would be required for a "conventional" home theater system.
The sleek, wall-mountable SurroundBar speaker connects to the digital audio output on back of your high definition television using the included optical audio cable. If your TV is not wall-mounted and is instead resting atop/inside furniture with shelf space for additional equipment, the Surround Bar can sit either underneath or above the TV. The "wireless" powered subwoofer can be located on the floor pretty much anywhere in the same room that's near an AC power outlet.
A simple (and sort of cute) remote control is included that handles power, SurroundBar volume, subwoofer volume, source selection, and mute, but your existing television remote control can probably also be used for raising/lowering the system's volume and muting. |
